Tupac Shakur’s Activism Illustrated Through 20 Minute Phone Conversation

WARNING: Explicit Language

When you listen to this telephone conversation between the late Tupac Shakur and Sankiya Shakur (known as Monster Kody, formerly of the LA gang the Crips), you can’t help but get chills.

Tupac Shakur was known for his back-and-forth from bawdy, foul-mouthed rapper to conscious community activist throughout his short life which ended in 1996. But, there has been no song or interview before that  the public been privy to  that gives such a well-rounded insight into one of the most prolific figures in music and Black culture and his heart-felt convictions on community activism, love for Black people and responsibility as a Black man. The conversation is both a cautionary tale and a template for arts activism.
